World of Jazz 100

So I was looking through my rather extensive collection of David Murray CDs and I noticed that he has a habit of naming tracks after famous jazz artists. It occurred to me that a podcast of some of those tracks paired with a selection from the person honoured by Mr Murray might make a good show – and to round things off Murray’s excellent version of a Kenny Dorham classic jazz tune –  so here it is……..

  1. David Murray Septet – Ornette – Jug-A-Lug
  2. Ornette Coleman & Prime Time – Search For Life – Tone Dialling
  3. David Murray Septet – Flowers for Albert – The Tip
  4. Albert Ayler – Zion Hill – Love Cry
  5. David Murray Quartet – Lester Leaps In – Saxmen
  6. Lester Young Quartet – I’m Confessin’ (That I Love You) – In Washington D.C. 1956 Vol 2
  7. David Murray – Dexter’s Dues – Special Quartet
  8. Dexter Gordon – Soul Sister – Dexter Calling
  9. David Murray – Asiatic Raes – For Aunt Louise
